LOL Maybe he's been playing a game with you for all this time and he decided to give you a break. :}
The treat idea is a good one, and make sure that the person is calm and doesn't raise their hand. Take it slow. Repetition can be a miracle.
I'd be careful with pet insurance. It can help but it is just ridiculously high in price.
I'm sure the internet is full of help on it. I just still sigh at the breeding concept. So many dogs are without homes and every new puppy probably means an older dog is killed.
Sometimes I wonder if too much variety in treat giving is actually a bad thing, just like changing dog food.
I just wanted to say that I am loving this thread. It's such a neat way to see how we've come together from all over, united by beagle love.
It's not just cute to have two, but dogs need dog companionship. My second beagle was an only child for a bit. The change in her when I got her a puppy was enormous. She loved her puppy, even when...
It's funny now but it wasn't then. That dog could dig and dig and dig, and she did. Every few feet there was a hole. We are so lucky she always found her way home.
Yeah, assumptions are a dangerous thing, not just with animals but humans too.
I am drooling with envy of the worst beagle kind. I want another beagle so bad, but they are so expensive around here. Our first beagle was a gift, one of the litter, and the second I was lucky and...
I don't know that I agree with those tactics. I wouldn't want that done to my dog anymore than I would for my child. I do know that the face offs have to go to the human.
Isn't it amazing what dogs can do? I remember when my beagle opened the door for the first time. My sister so did not believe me, until she saw it for herself.
lol My dogs have always snored. Well, not the first beagle but I think just about every other dog I've had does.
You should never physically punish a dog -- ever -- with your hand or any part of the body. You have to do with vocal intonation and you have to catch them in the act or it means nothing. Be...
Wow, now that is definitely an amazing story. Animals are protectors; there's no end to what they will do for their humans. Thanks for sharing.
My puppy slept a lot too but not as much as that. Is he drinking water normally? Eating normally? Going to the bathroom normally? If so, give it a couple of weeks, but beyond that, I'd talk to...
Lead up to it. Start with a walk up and down the block. Then turn the corner and go a bit and back. Then go around the block, etc. It's important to lead up to it. Also, consider what they are...
Training time. Teach him to heel. That takes a lot of repetition, but it does work, and once they know the command, they'll be golden.
What a beautiful memorial. Time doesn't matter. It is the power of love, a bond that takes but a nano-second. I am sorry for your loss, and your words have brought tears to my eyes.
Woof! Howdy Mollie. Thanks for bringing your human here to the forum. It's a great place, and I'm sure you'll love it.
Have a story about your beagle's nerve? How about sharing it. My first tale involves my ferocious first beagle and our much younger shepherd-collie, who was fully grown and several times the size...
My first beagle loved to sleep under the covers. She took any opportunity to get under the sheets and blankets. Has yours done that?
I don't think problems are common. Those little red spots or bumps can happen, but they should remain small and be gone within a couple of days. It's just smart to look out for it.
It's an unusual name so I like that too. My dogs didn't have unusual names but the important thing is that the name fits.
