Beagles require daily exercise in order to stay healthy and happy. Beagles tend to have a short attention span and can become bored very easily if not exercised on a daily basis. This means there is a big chance you can expect your Beagle to use his built up energy destroying things around your home. Keep your Beagle exercised and you will both live a peaceful and happy life together. There are a variety of exercises you can provide for your Beagle that will keep him or her busy every day.
- Walking, Running and Jogging – Put your favorite pair of running shoes on and make your Beagle your workout buddy. Bring your dog along for your daily exercise routine and you both will be happy.
- Backyard Play Time – If you are one of those pet owners that arrive home from work absolutely exhausted and skip walks with your Beagle, you will want to provide outdoor playtime for your dog on a daily basis anyway. Take your Beagle to the local dog park and allow him or her to play with the other dogs while you sit and rest. If you have a backyard, allow your dog to spend time running around in the yard while you prepare dinner, eat and clean up the kitchen. This allows your dog to get plenty of exercise on a daily basis, and at the same time, it allows you to get your chores done and relax.
- Agility Training – Set up an agility course in your yard for your Beagle to explore and exercise. He or she will enjoy running, jumping and navigating their way through the obstacle course. The repetitive nature of the course will provide your Beagle with plenty of daily exercise. It also allows you to form a close bond with your dog, since you will be the one guiding and encouraging him or her to accomplish the course. Remember you can do an agility course for fun at home. You don’t always have to enter your Beagle in competitions. Unless this is a hobby you would like to share and enjoy with your dog.
- Fetch – This simple game is great for dog owners that are tired, but still enjoy spending time playing with your dog. Beagles love to fetch objects and bring it back to their owner. You can use a stick or toy to get your dog’s attention and throw it as far as you can within your yard. Repeat this process many times until you notice your Beagle is either becoming tired or uninterested in playing the game any longer. Playing fetch is also a great way to involve the entire family and children. Just take turns throwing the object for your dog.
Beagles can be taught how to play many games that provide plenty of exercise throughout their lifetime. Frisbee is a popular game that combines, fetching, running and jumping. Easily throw the Frisbee in the air and towards a specific area. Your Beagle will run after it, jump to catch it in the air and then bring it back to you. As time goes forward you will naturally find new and inventive ways to exercise your Beagle that will keep him or her healthy and happy for many years to come.
