A deficiency in essential fatty acids will result in a rough, dry coat, dandruff, retarded growth of puppies, reproduction problems, chronic pancreatitis, gall bladder disease, liver disease, malabsorption and general poor health.

The benefits of omega 3 fatty acids for dogs are mostly for warding off cancer but they are equally good for improving heart health and joint problems while the tinned variety of dog foods are typically filled with Omega 6 fatty acids adequate levels. Omega 3 for dogs, infused into many fine quality dog food diets, is known to relieve inflammation, maintain eye, bone and brain health, and strengthens the immune system.
