Don't hunt? LOL Okay, I know that's not realistic for you. I'm just not a believer in hunting animals, but I do love beagles!

get another beagle to run with him or hook up with a beagler with good pack dogs in your area

I already have tried that except he still does not seem interested. Im going to try to kennel him with an older hunting dog for weeks or months to see if then he follows

thats a good idea..beagles r pack animals...he may think that u r the alpha dog in his pack...u might want to consider a foster parent situation where he can stay with another beagler whom u trust for 6wks or more really u want him with their dogs,,,,so he can adopt a new pack...we once had a great hunting dog that would not hunt around others or their dogs....we would have to spend a great deal of time getting him introduced to his new pack mates human and canine before he would hunt....it was worth it cuz he was a hunting machine we would have given up but my father in law insisted we not give up on that dog....he was very loyal and protrctive..we miss him...good luck and be patient

your advice really helped me understand why my beagle stays by my legs the whole time we are hunting. i guess that is a good thing until the others take off but he stays beside me. i will have to hook him to one of the older, more patient dogs and maybe that will work. Thanks!

get another pup. The new pup will hunt with the older dog. the older dog may try to ditch the pup but that pup will to follow and the older dog will learn to hunt with someone. It always works and you get to start your own pack. good luck

I'd take him out with just other 1 dog for awhile. Let him learn to brace up. Don't over power him with to many pack mates. Try to brace him with a dog with the same running speed if possible. When running them together, be sure to ignore him if he comes back to you while the other is running. Don't say a word to him. Sooner or later he'll learn it's more fun running with his brace mate than standing around you not getting attention.

had the same proble. a very old wise beagler solved my problem. we took the dogs out turned them loose except for my pup tied him to the truck where he could see and here the others. broke my heart to see him go through that but the old man said leave him there. got all the others back went 200 yds up the road let them back out. the pup packed right up with them no problems since. hope this helps.
