I would recommend talking to your vet before starting a supplement program just to make sure that you are giving them the correct things and the right doses. That said one of my coworkers has a 10 year old lab and he gives him glucosamine and said it has really made a difference.

It's an old thread, but someone might still find it helpful to use some CBD for this purpose. It helps to reduce the pain and can calm down the dog. However, you need to consult a specialist before taking any supplements.
You also need to do some reading to choose the best CBD oil for dogs with anxiety. Here's a comprehensive article about it. CBD helps not only with anxiety but also with pain. It works with dogs just like it does with people. I think it's better than artificial painkillers that are harmful to the dog's health.
I'm giving CBD to my dog anytime it's anxious or in discomfort, and it does pretty fine.
