I am not sure of your question but it seems like you would like to stop your new beagle from hunting/running rabbits. Personally I would never use an electronic collar. You have to remember that your beagle was raised and trained to hunt. I have a similar issue with my beagle Vazzy who we adopted 3 months ago. She is not off leash unless she is in our fenced yard or the dog park. I am working on finding other activities to let her "be a beagle" while I try to get her to chill out a bit on walks. Right now we are using her favorite treat along with a dog whistle and training her to come to the whistle immediately, focus on us and get her treat. That way we can wear the whistle outdoors eventually and slow her down a bit. But you really have to let them be beagles or you will have a very frustrated dog.

Hello, first time posting and a member for about 5 minutes. here is my tale. Got a beagle pup for xmas last year. at that time i was laid off so spent a lot of time with him (Zeke) training went very well. now the fun starts found a guy to run zeke with his dogs and after a few times he offered me one of his started puppies about 14 mo. old. I seen this pup run rabbits on many occasions. now that hunting season is here all he wants to do is run, passing up all possible rabbit hiding areas. I've tried what i know short of an E-collar. Any suggestions would be great.
