Hello, I am new to this forum but not new to being a beagle owner. having had 2 beagles in the past 20 years. Most recently{ a week ago} I had to put down our lovely female of 13 years Ruby! we are currently dogless in our family! I am still trying to come to grips with the passing of my little girl and with many tears shed in our family, so maybe this forumcan be a bit of therapy for me. We will probably end up getting another beagle sometime but as for now it is way too soon. My male Bugsy died in my arms 5 years ago at a ripe age of 14. They are the most incredible dogs to me and we are trying to remember to celebrate their lives and the time we had to spend caring for them. We thank The Lord for having them in our lives and being able to have them enrich our lives as we tried to enrich theirs.

superpredator,

Welcome to Beagles Unlimited.

I can tell by your post that you loved your dogs very much and cared for them well. It goes without saying that your dogs knew they were in a loving home and had a good life. This passing can be rough to deal with , you have my greatest sympathy as I feel your pain.
Hold fast in your heart the memory of your beloved pets and they will be with you in spirit to comfort you in this time of need. Below is a passage I have always found comforting , I hope it will help you too...

I've traveled the pathways beside you

I've made you the Lord of my day

But now that I've gone on before you

It's only to show you the way

Thanks for the welcome and kind words, oldhoundog. It means a lot to our family and myself. I miss my dogs so much! funny how you get yourself intoroutines of leting them out, feeding them and so on. Still catch myself wanting to let her out, looking for her when I come home to see that tail wagging and her smile. She would smile at us every time we returned home from anywhere we had been. Sleeping has been a challenge as well for she has been on my mind constantly. I know time heals the wounds that no one can see and for now I will trust in the Lord that she is in a much better place and reunited with her boyfriend and longtime fellow rabbit chaser Bugsy! Thanks again for the welcome. superpredator

Welcome! I am so very sorry for your recent loss. Our hound-babies sure find their way into our hearts. You will know when the time is right and there are so many beagles out there just waiting to be a part of your family.
