What are the symptoms of Diabetes in dogs?

Bruno, one of my boys, has not been feeling well for the last few weeks. His appetite was poor and was just laying around. Now, he's much better and quite back to his old self BUT he seems to be obsessed with water. I try to give him all the water he wants and he keeps on urinating every 3o minutes or so. If I forget to give him enough water, he will try to lap water anywhere he can get it--from the toilets to wet grass...I hope this isn't Diabetes though. I guess a visit to the vet is urgently needed.

I had a dog once that suffered from from Diabetes. It was only detected when the condition was quite worse and the vet prescribed two shots of insulin--one in the morning and another in the evening. She was always thirsty and peed often.

As long as the insulin injections were made regularly, the thirst and peeing returned to normal levels.

Giving insulin shots is much better than giving an oral pill daily. Once you start the diabetic treatment though, you will find that all the problems you have now which are associated with Diabetes should hopefully be gone or minimized.
