Dog has pain in right , front leg, need advice

Ace is not even 3 years old. Neutered male, on quality dog food.
This is the third time he is limping a little. First vet said it is
nothing and will go away.
A week ago started limping slightly again and didn't put his first right paw down. It always happens after rest. Walking, playing after a few minutes seem to be fine. My vet did physical exam , blood and urine tests and X-rays . Everything seemed to be fine. Later two vets examined the magnified X-ray and I was told there is a small calcification and swelling on the right shoulder on the hemura. He got Rimadyl for ten days, after the second day he is still not better.
Does anybody had the same experience before?
What should I do? Thx.

I have never heard of calcification in a beagle. This site might have some info to help you http://www.gopetsamerica.com/dog-health/calcinosis_circumscripta.aspx

Hope he feels better soon!
Thnks, I'll go back in ten days, it is not better yet:(
Kutyuska ,

I would want to get as much detail as I could as to what your Vet's prognosis for Ace's condition.
If the pain and limp continue you and Ace may be better served with a visit to a Orthopedic Veterinarian.

I hope his condition improves.

He is a little bit better today, only has side effects from Rimadyl, stomach problems but of course he didn't loose his appetite. I think calcification is arthritis , am I right?
In only a week we'll be back to the vet and ask about the certain diagnosis.
Thnks Oldhounddog :)
kutyuska ,

Pain meds can cause problems with the stomach for sure, I hope this is better soon.

If you suspect arthritis is part of Ace's discomfort , I would consider a joint supplement. it will not upset the stomach and it has helped my dog that has joint pain.

Supplements to the dog's diet such as Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate, Omega Fatty Acids, Vitamin E, Selenium, and MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) all assist in decreasing inflammation and improving the body's ability to repair and strengthen tissues.

Example: Cosequin® DS Plus MSM Joint Health Supplement for Dogs , this product is used by many of the folks I know with proven results for dog joint pain...

I buy the Glucosamine and Chondroitin (500/600 mg ea) at the grocer store and add a generic fish oil gel cap to my dogs food. Takes about 2 weeks to start seeing results.
Make sure that the dogfood you are using has a little vitamin C in it as this help the body absorb the glucosimine/chondroitin.

You could try this as a test and it may help Ace.

Best , oldhounddog
