It really depends on what motivates your dog. Some dogs can be rewarded with praise, squeaky toys, or treats. If you use treats, fine something that is tiny and easy to handle during training. Plus you don't want to overfeed. If you use quite a bit of treats during training, cut back a bit on one of the dog's regular meals. I try to enroll my dogs in a basic manners class, its a good bonding exercise for you and your dog and teaches you some good training tips.

Beagles love to eat but you need to teach them how to eat. They will eat anything and everything if allowed. I suggest that you give her treats for tricks and yes even toys. If she likes to chew use an old sock tied in knots to tug and pull on. If she like to jump, teach her to do jumping tricks with lots of hugs and love as well as treats. My dog likes to play with boxes, so we put a treat inside and let her get it out on her own. She definitely needs a yard to run around to get exercise. Because beagles tend to get fat if not exercised properly. Praise, treats and love is what she needs, treats need to be in moderation. Good luck.
