I have a beagle mix that was adopted. She is 8 months old. Although I live in a residential area we have deer daily in our yard. The deer arrive from a wooded area that is over a 2000 feet away. Will an electrical fence benefit my beagle from chasing the deer? Usually, the deer arrive late afternoon. If an electrical fence has benefits with limitations, I could use the electrical fence as an option before the deer arrive. I would not leave my home ever and leave the dog in the yard. I would use the electrical fence to get some projects completed while the beagle has the option of being outside.

Are you talking an invisible fence with sensor wire in-ground with a signal/training collar on your dog?
