My beagle has a wound on his tail and and ear infection. Took him to the vet today and they gave us the e-collar and he is miserable. He doesn't want to walk around or sleep, he whines and cries and he tries getting it off. He has to wear it for two weeks. Is there anything I can do so he can be more comfortable? I hate seeing him like this.

There is not a lot you can do about the ecollar or cone of shame as some call them. If your dog is very stressed after 24 hours you may want to ask your Vet about something to calm your dog. I would not worry too much if your dog eats , drinks and will go potty. Being miserable is an OK trade off for a few days as long as your dog gets well.
