I have a 1 year and 2 month old male beagle that will trail a fresh rabbit trail for about 30 minutes but not long after he looses it he will come back to me and he looks for another one but he doesnt ever find anymore. Im trying to get him to hunt by his self away from me but I just cant get him to. Would it help to get an older more experienced dog to run with him to give him more experience?

Yes , if you can let your Beag hunt with more experienced dogs it will build confidence and drive.

I agree. I run my seven-month-old pups with their mother and also with other older dogs. Older dogs help teach the younger dogs all Mr. Cottontail's tricks and help keep them on the track. I also run them alone occasionally so they don't get too dependent on others doing the work.
