I have a two year old beagle who is the pickiest thing I have ever met. She will turn up her nose at canned food, a bowl of dry can sit out for two or three days with only a couple bites taken. She has been to the vet and they said there is nothing physically wrong with her, and that we just need to find what she wants to eat. We have tried all the dog foods from natures valley, taste of the wild, iams, eukanuba, even the cheaper stuff like dog chow and pedigree. She just isn't interested. She never had people food until after her last check up at the vet, he said try it, just meats, rice and dairy. So we have and she will eat that.
So I am wanting to make my own dog food. I am looking for what would be the best ingredients I am thinking of going with rice, chicken, beef, maybe turkey? and rabbit (we raise rabbits and chickens so that would be "free" meat) I am also thinking of adding in some vegetables every so often like peas, green beans, broccoli and carrots (she loves carrots if you cook them with a roast and give her the carrots) she also likes cottage cheese but I think that can just be a treat I would like to be able to cook up enough of the food to store for at least a week or two, then just take it out of the freezer the day before, throw it in the microwave the next morning and give it to her.
Any suggestions, opinions, anyone out there try feeding there dogs there own premade food? She will of course still have the dry available 24/7 she just doesn't eat it.
