Hello, I am new here. I just adopted a new puppy. I set out to get a tri-color beagle, but saw one that her color is called khaki. She is beautiful, and could not resist. But was wondering if this is a true color for beagle. She is a standred size beagle. Are there any helth problems with this color beagle. Dog Carnivore Plant Companion dog Fawn

I have not got her yet. I am going to pick her up on Sunday, and I already love her.

chloesmom ,

The pic of your girl is beautiful. If parents are healthy and the pup is healthy the color of coat is unrelated to health issues. Coat should be thick , flat , with a hard finish. When pups are young the coat may be soft and harden to a hound finish as she matures. You have already said she is standard size , so , the only thing left to say is she is very special.

Beagles come in many colors , check this link: http://www.lemon-drops.de/hound_colours.htm

Enjoy your Beautiful girl , as you have already said the important part..... "I am going to pick her up on Sunday, and I already love her."

I am an old houndsman and I wish you and your girl well.

chloesmom ,

I had a couple of thoughts after I posted last time. First... Buy the best kibble you can for her. Buy from pet or feed store and stay away from Walmart when it comes to dog food. Try to use a kibble with a named meat source as the first ingredient and no corn. When making your choice check the internet for current recalls on dog food and treats. Only buy a small bag of dog food to start with , to make sure she likes it and it agrees with her.

Second... Consider an obedience class for your girl as this will help with everything from house-training to just plain how to communicate and learn together as you go forward on life's road with her by your side. Your girl will enjoy learning things , and , even if you only do basic puppy obedience work , it will make your life easier.

I know you did not ask for this info , but , I just could not resist.

Good Luck , oldhounddog
