My vet tells me that "Sadie" is an 18" beagle. Currently she tips the scales at 62lbs. She is active, we have a big back yard for lots of running, but she loves to eat....everything! We only feed her twice a day, but everyone gives her treats throughout the day. My trouble and question is what should she weigh, and what is the best way to slim her down?

What does your vet say about her weight? My vet always tells me if the girls are on target with their weight. Molly is a tiny beagle and weighs 28 pounds and Vazzy is a bit taller and larger body shape, she is 38 pounds. If Sadie is 18 inches and is active her weight may be just fine.

Goober was a big boy in his youth that was also 18" @ the withers & the healthy "weight for him was 45 lbs". For most of his life he was a big beag, until he reached 14 yrs as he lost muscle mass he barely weighed 32lbs when he died @ nearly 16.5 yrs!
