Hi Everyone,

My fiance Paul and I just joined your forum and we a very proud beagle owners. Our sweet Dixie came to us 8 months ago after we rescued her. Somebody had dumped her off in the middle of the desert on a hot day, a sweet lady found her but unfortunely could not keep her and put her up for adoption, we saw the ad and knew we had to have this particular beagle and so glad we got her. Our sweet Dixie was covered in fleas and ticks and hadn't had a bath in who knows when, After getting our sweet Dixie cleaned up its off to the vet for a check-up and shots, she was given a clean bill of health but even the vet was sicken by whoever did this to her. She is now our pride and joy and our promise to Dixie is she will NEVER go through any of that again.
Its taken Dixie 8 months to really come out of her shell she was in, she was very shy and timid and almost like she was afraid of anything and everything, but she has come to show off all her beautiful traits she has, she loves to go on drives with us and long walks on cool green grass is her speciality. Her favorite place to sleep is in her daddys closet on his fresh clean laundry. Dixie truely is our precious beagle and the vet tells us we will have her a good 10 to 15 yrs more.

Your beagles are so cute, they are the best breed of dogs ever. I always wanted a beagle going up but never got one, my fiance had one all his life and when we met with Dixie the first time I instantly fell in love with her, the lady that found her saw her walking on the side of the road,(it was extremely hot as we live in the desert) and so afraid. She took Dixie home with her and since she was unable to give her a home herself she placed an ad on Craigslist, but she want this beagle to go to a special home so she was very picky on who would take her. On the afternoon we went to see her we both feel in love with her and she brought tears to my eyes because it was so obivious tha someone had just dumped her. Becky knew we would give her the best possible home since Paul had previously owned a beagle himself. She is now the center of our home, everyone fell in love with her instantly.
We are hoping to adopt another in the future hopefully another rescue beagle. By any chance did you get your beagles from the great rescue beagle in July of 2010, Paul and I saw a story where they rescued 120 beagles from a place who no longer did animal tested, I believe it was in New Jersey not sure, but they took these sweet beagles and rescued them and them put them up for adoption.

I love your story and am glad Dixie found you. Molly and Vazzy are from local NY rescues. I think Vazzy was brought up from a kill-shelter in South Carolina. I had a beagle (my first dog when I was about 21) named Benny. I got him when he was 10 weeks old and so darn cute. If you are looking for a 2nd beagle, you can search your area on Petfinder and also check on Beagles-0n-the-Web "Faces Needing Places" http://www.beagles-on-the-web.com/
