The Mighty Quinn is a year old. I adopted her last month. Sweetest dog! I got her all sorts of different types of toys. She ignores each and every one of them. However, much to my husband's chagrin, she loves to chew on whatever she finds out in the yard: the garden hose, his work gloves, his garden shoes, tarps.... and she loves to dig. The digging part is easy: this weekend we are making her a digging box.

My question to you is how do I get her interested in acceptable chew toys? She likes fresh bones and dried buffalo lung (not the greatest smelling things but she loves them). I'm hoping the digging box entices her to stop trying to dig up our yard and she'll bury her bones in that. In the house, I haven't found anything that she'll play with other than us and the cats (which they don't always care for).

Thanks for your input.

Being that you have only had her a month, she will find her way to enjoy toys soon on her own most likely. Vazzle was 2 when we got her and she didn't know how to play, take treats, or just relax and curl up in a bed. We think she was a hunting dog and was kept outside with a pack of dogs. She now loves her stuffed toys, especially with squeakers. You can try Nylabones, they make flavored ones. Does she get alot of attention and exercise? I find that my 2 only dig when left alone and bored.

Quinn goes to daycare a couple times a week when I'm working. We also take her to the dog park severval times a week in the evenings. Husband gets down and plays with her everynight and she has a big yard to run around in. When we are home, she's usually the center of attention or at least NOT being ignored. She also has 2 cats (one of them is bigger than her) that she plays with. I'm hoping in time, she'll learn to play with actual dog toys and find out how much fun they are.
