My beagle shadow is now 8 months old, we brought him home at 8 weeks on January 1st so we have had him roughly 6 months. He knows that he is supposed to use the bathroom outside, because when he has a accident in the house he feels bad, we can actually tell when he does it without knowing he did it by the way he acts. He stays in a crate while we are away at work during the day he is alone for roughly 8 hours. He holds his needs all day, and when I come home I take him outside and he does his business like he should with no problems. When I bring him back inside we set a timer for 45 minutes, and we take him outside every 45 minutes all night long. Sometimes he will go outside and do nothing, then he will come back inside sneak away and pee or poop somewhere in the house. right after I just took him out, it happens at least once a day. Shouldn't he be catching on by now? Because he knows he is doing wrong, but he just doesn't seem to want to stop having these accidents. I mean he holds it all day while we are gone and when we get home it seems he cannot hold it longer than a hour. Is this normal? What can I do to help him learn quicker? Thank you!

Beagles can be tough with the potty training sometimes even if they start from a puppy. My beagle Molly was adopted when she was 2 and she would never pee for me outside, then come inside and pee. Then one day she just got it and has never had an accident again. I don't think you have to worry about anything like an infection because he wouldn't be able to hold it all day. I would limit his house access so he can't wander off and pee. Be sure to use a cleaner made for pet urine to get rid of the scent. When he does pee outside, praise, praise, praise. This site has some great tips too : http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/virtual-pet-behaviorist/dog-behavior/house-training-your-puppy
