I am a retired dog sledder but am thinking about getting a hunting beagle when my last (lonely) sled dog dies. I have heard they are very friendly and are good with people and other dogs. I am trying to win my wife over to this idea but the local pet food store clerk just gave her an ear full about how her beagle sheds and she always has tri-color hair all over her house. That may be enough to turn my wife off. How bad is the shedding in beagles? Are there some special tricks or solutions for this? We have an indoor dog, a Cairn terrier that doesn't shed at all.
