Was given a seventh month old female she ran a rabbit first time out but she stays just far enough away for you not to touch her. Tied her in yard and let my kids play with her any other tricks I could try?

She just needs time, gentleness and love. I have a VERY shy beagle that I adopted from a shelter. She has gotten much better over the years. Its people she fears, not dogs, cars, or anything. When people want to greet her I ask them to squat down and extend their hand to her. If you come at them too quickly it just frightens them more. Walking is a good way to bond and gain trust also.

Just take time with her. At this point, bonding/confidence is more important than running rabbits. She's already showed you that she can do that. If she's inside, lay on the floor and let her explore you. All puppies like to play. Don't go too fast. You have a lot of years ahead. Let them be a puppy first and don't pressure them too much.
