My puppy is a miniature American eskimo, not a beagle, but hoping you all will help us anyway. Anna is 15 weeks old and came to me at eight weeks infected with both giardia and coccidiosis. Took a couple of weeks to get a diagnosis. Then she was treated simultaneously with Albon 20 days, metronidazole 10 days, panacur 5 days. After 2 or 3 weeks the metronidazole and panacur treatment was repeated. Float test negative now and no mucous or blood. But stools either very soft or liquid, and often with squeaking, crackling sounds that are so loud they scare her, and she tries to run from them. She has had only about 10 formed stools ever. I believe that she is probably free of parasites but intestines need healing. I am at a loss as to what to feed her. Dry food or wet? Yogurt for probiotics or a supplement? I have tried purina en. purina pro for puppy, basic blue for sensitive, and homemade chicken breast with rice. I give her a tablespoon of yogurt once a day. Her vet exams: palpation, temperature, rectal are all normal. She has a voracious appetite and is energetic. I only feed her about quarter cup every 2 or 3 hours all day. She is always hungry, but she's gaining weight now, current weight probably 8+ pounds. Last night, I mistakenly fed her a little chicken and rice at 7pm and she had diarrhea all night. I am very discouraged.
Thank you.

sounds like she has been thru a lot . I would pick one food only and give her that until she is completely well. Plain yogurt is fine to give to help settle her tummy. You can add plain canned pumpkin if she has diarrhea. Switching foods can cause tummy troubles.

Mon, 10-21-13 after writing first post, took her to vet for last parvo shot and when she was weighed, had only gained 2 oz in 3 weeks. A vet who was in surgery so didn't exam her wrote prescription for Pro-pectalin every 12 hours. That has helped some. Actually had one firm stool, but has continued to have loose ones also, although not as many, and is sleeping till 4am before having to poop rather than 11PM or 1AM as before. Also wrote prescription for Hills prescription ID which I got in dry food and have again been gradually adding to ground chicken breast and long-grain white rice. I have also ordered forti flora in the hope that will work better than yogurt. Will take her to be weighed again today or tomorrow. Hoping and praying she has gained some. Appreciate your reply, had tried canned pumpkin and banana, she refused both, but will try again. My vet says chicken and rice only doesn't provide enough nutrients for growing puppy and therefore must also feed regular food.

Hello Melinda, how was your puppy now? Hoping too he's getting better and gained good weight now. Does the forti flora works? Here we add coconut oil on dog meals which they love, this helps on dry, flaky skin as well as on some tummy problem.
