Im new to the site and am just looking for advice on a Beagle i have her name is Snow Shoe Run Hannah she comes from good bloodline here in Pa. I got Hannah when she was already 10 months old she was a kennel dog that only saw one person on a day to day basis her owner. She is now a wonderful in house dog listens extremely well and is a member of the family. She was very shy and sketchy at first until she warmed up to us, some things still make her flinch a bit but for the most part she has overcome that. Now the previous owner had a pack of about 10 Beagles that were all older than her.He said he ran her a couple of times hunting as a pup and she was doing ok ( I can't say for sure i don't personally know the guy but a friend of mine i hunt with knows him and said he always hunts good Beagles and has always had good Beagles) so i took it as she was a good hunting Beagle that still needed time. I got her in march of 2011 so i didn't take her out hunting right away i wanted her to get comfortable in her new house with new people cause everything was a big change for her and she adjusted very well. Now 2012 season was here and i went out with Hannah a couple of times to get her into the woods and she would go nose to the ground running around not fully understanding what she was doing.Took her out once or twice with an experienced 13 year old Beagle. She was interested with running with her at first but then just went about doing her own thing after about a half hour sadly that Beagle passed away. She didn't really run for the hills when guns were firing but she does kind of scoot a bit but then she's fine.On to this year out i worked with Hannah a bit in the off season not as much as i would of liked but i do have to work!I would take her for walks and i would see a rabbit in the fields take her to where the rabbit was and she would go crazy nose to the ground and baying her head off,let her off the leash and off she went running the rabbit baying and then done like she lost the scent or i dont exactly know thats whats been happening out hunting this year and after a half hour to an hour she seems to lose interest and just sits down or lays down and wont wanna do nothing i dont wanna lose hope in her she had two good long runs this year were she scent trailed and circled the rabbit back for the kill.Any advice for me to better us both?Im hoping its not too late for her age shes now 3 years old?Sorry about my post not good with computers! Thanks!!!!
